iPhone Web Scaffolding

Overview

What is it?

iPhone Web scaffolding generates ready-to-run Spring MVC applications that are skinned for the iPhone mobile device. iPhone Web applications can be generated from existing artifacts such as database schemas, Java Beans and JPA entities. Within a matter of minutes, automatically create an iPhone application that contains a skinned Spring MVC front-end integrated with a Spring (Spring/JPA/Hibernate) back-end.

Key aspects of iPhone scaffolding include:

  • The generated iPhone Web client is a web application that is suitable for iPhone web browsers
  • The foundation for the iPhone Web application is a Spring MVC client with the JSP pages generated using iWebKit for giving the application an iPhone look and feel
  • The generated applications support both Spring 2.5.x and Spring 3.0

Why use it?

Users who are new to iPhone development can leverage the iPhone Web scaffolding feature to quickly create their own contextual examples to reference while getting up to speed. Experienced developers can use iPhone Web scaffolding to generate the boilerplate code, allowing them to accomplish in minutes what used to take hours or days.
